"Expert Home Cooking;
Breakfast, Dinner and Lunch. Fine Liquors," according to the back of this
1940s postcard. Location: the intersection of Route 6 with state highway 7
in Orland Park. This is as close as route 6 gets to the City of Chicago.
The stretch of Route 6 across the southern portion of Chicago's Cook
County included significant rural territory in the 1940s. It is now
dominated by a seemingly endless stretch of suburban commercial
landscapes.
