Just east of Sandusky on an estuary
of Lake Erie. (November 2001 photo)
|
Route 6 through Sandusky comes within
two blocks of the Lake Erie shore. Here is a November 2001 view of the
lake from downtown. |
The reverse side of this postcard, probably from the late 1930s, describes this facility: "A gentle resort of the highest character. Its modern for rent cottages, excellent hotel accomdations, unsurpassed beach, beautiful parks, and every varied recreation are here for your health and pleasure." A pleasant forty mile drive on Route 6 brought in customers from Cleveland. Alas, it is no longer there. (Curt Teich Postcard Archives, Lake County Illinois Discovery Museum) |
