Through Adams County, just northeast of Denver, Route 6 closely parallels the old CB&Q rail line (now the BNSF). Highway travellers would regularly see the sleek Zephyrs zooming by. Perhaps in some cases, motorists tried to race speedy trains.  Alas, these trains did not stop between Denver and Fort Morgan, so they were always moving through Adams County.  Today, Amtrak still runs the California Zephyr through the county.   (Image is courtesy of John Chuckman and comes from his Web site on Chicago Nostalgia and Memorabelia)
